Asbestos
Asbestos is regulated at the Federal, State and Local levels but is still commonly overlooked. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulate the asbestos industry and require asbestos surveys, operations and maintenance programs to be performed. The intent of the OSHA regulation is to communicate to building employees and operators the location and quantity of asbestos-containing material (ACM). Asbestos surveys are also required to be performed prior to renovation/demolition activities.
The asbestos survey is also used to identify and quantify materials that may be required to be removed prior to proposed renovation and/or demolition activities. Watterson’s Asbestos Survey includes:
- Identifying, quantifying, and sampling of suspect ACMs
- Photographing suspect ACMs and developing floor plans
- Providing a CAD drawing of the facility surveyed with sample points and ACM locations
- A cost/recommendations letter that provides a budget for removal of ACM and recommendations for the proper removal and disposal of ACM.
In addition to performing Asbestos Surveys, Watterson can assist you in the development of asbestos abatement design documents and oversight, contractor procurement and the generation of asbestos Operations and Maintenance Programs. Watterson has extensive experience performing asbestos abatement projects across the nation and utilizes a vast network of asbestos abatement contractors that are reliable and cost effective. Watterson has generated hundreds of asbestos abatement specifications continually focusing on the regulatory requirements and the most cost effective methodologies for performing asbestos abatement projects.
While many environmental consultants are only licensed in one or two states, Watterson is prepared to work with you to provide asbestos surveys both locally and across multiple states. We are approved and licensed to perform asbestos surveys, oversight and project design in 45 states.
