WATTERSON’S POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARIES
Air Quality Specialist
The requirement for this position is a four-year college degree in a science or environmental compliance field and up to five years experience. Diverse experience in the following areas is a plus: Indoor Air Quality, Mold, and Asbestos Surveys and Abatement Oversight. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to communicate directly with clients to solve their problems, acquire and evaluate environmental data, and prepare detailed technical reports for our clients. Travel across the country is part of the job. Responsibilities may include performing asbestos survey, air monitoring, and indoor air quality projects. Specifically this includes:
- Oversight of contractors and air monitoring during abatement projects.
- Collecting bulk samples and document locations of samples and suspect materials.
- Conducting air monitoring during abatement projects in accordance with NIOSH methods.
- Applying federal, state, and local rules and regulations.
Environmental Consultant
The requirement for this position is a four-year college degree in a science, engineering or environmental compliance field and up to two years experience. The successful candidate will be trained to perform Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to communicate directly with clients to solve their problems, acquire and evaluate environmental data, and prepare detailed technical reports for our clients. Travel across the country is part of the job. Responsibilities primarily include technical activities related to projects, including field work (i.e., data/sample collections, sample preparation and laboratory submittal, document research, and contractor oversight) and office work (i.e., preparation of draft proposals and reports). Specifically, this includes:
- Performing field work (e.g., data and sample collection, research, and contractor oversight), acquiring data and information, and preparing project reports.
- Developing sound technical recommendations.
- Drafting technical reports.
- Applying applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Project Consultant
The requirements for this position are a four-year college degree in a science, engineering, or environmental compliance field and two to five years of experience performing environmental or industrial hygiene projects. Responsibilities include performing and/or managing projects, including both field work and office work. Specifically, this includes the responsibilities of the Environmental Consultant and the following:
- Preparing proposals, including budget estimates.
- Preparing and/or reviewing draft and final reports
- Demonstrating strong competency with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Senior Project Consultant
The requirement for this position is a four-year college degree in a science, engineering, or environmental compliance field and more that five years experience performing environmental or industrial hygiene projects. Strong writing, problem solving, and scientific reasoning skills are essential. Responsibilities include managing projects from initiation to completion which includes budgets; schedules; risk; quality; technical aspects; and coordination with client, staff, and contractors. Specifically, this includes the responsibilities of the Project Consultant and the following:
- Providing technical guidance to associates on applicable regulations, industry standard practices, and company procedures.
- Analyzing field and laboratory data and develop recommendations.
- Preparing cost estimates, technical proposals and reports, and provide senior review of deliverables.
- Supporting sales and marketing efforts.
Senior Consultant
The requirement for this position is a four-year college degree in a science, engineering, or environmental compliance field and 10 or more years experience in the environmental consulting arena. This position’s responsibilities involve managing and directing all activities related to projects. This includes overseeing the technical, quality control, and financial aspects of projects to the client’s satisfaction. Specifically, this includes the responsibilities of the Senior Project Consultant and the following:
- Managing client accounts, projects, staff, and vendors, and daily operations.
- Managing projects from initiation to completion which includes budgets; schedules; risk; quality; technical aspects; and coordination with client, staff, and contractors.
- Providing technical guidance to associates on applicable regulations, industry standard practices, and company procedures.
- Ensuring that profitability goals are met on projects.
- Ensuring that risk is managed in accordance with company guidelines.
- Leading sales efforts.
- Providing supervision to others through planning and scheduling or work, direction, review and feedback of assigned tasks.
